Every Thought Captive
Every Thought Captive: 2 Corinthians 5:10
Have you ever found yourself lying awake at night, your mind racing with worries you can’t seem to shut off? Thinking about bills, responsibilities, or situations that feel completely out of your control? That heavy feeling in your chest, the kind that makes it hard to rest—it’s something so many of us carry, often silently.
I’ve been there too. Those moments where stress creeps in and negative thoughts start piling up, one after another. It’s exhausting.
But something began to shift for me when I started leaning into who God truly is. God the Father is Jehovah Jireh—our Provider. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. And the Holy Spirit is our Comforter and Guide, right here with us in the middle of it all.
Lately, I’ve been asking the Holy Spirit to help me take every thought captive and make it obedient to what is true. And honestly, I didn’t realize just how many negative thoughts I was entertaining each day until I started paying attention. It was eye-opening.
Now, when worry or stress tries to take over, I pause. I don’t let those thoughts run unchecked anymore. Instead, I take them captive and replace them with truth. Sometimes that looks like reminding myself, “God will provide.” Other times it’s simply saying, “I am not alone in this.”
I won’t pretend I do this perfectly—far from it. There are still moments where I spiral or forget. But even in the imperfect practice, I’ve experienced something real: His peace. Not a peace that makes sense in every situation, but the kind that steadies your heart anyway.
The kind of peace that reminds you that you don’t have to carry everything on your own.
So today, I want to ask you: where do you need to speak truth over your life? What thoughts have you been allowing to take root that don’t align with what God says about you?
You don’t have to fight those battles alone. The Holy Spirit is ready to guide you, comfort you, and help you walk in truth—but sometimes it starts with a simple, honest prayer: “Help me.”
And He will.
