His Love Will Never End

love

You are seen. You are not forgotten. You are loved and precious. Were these the thoughts that crossed your mind this morning? If not, what were you thinking about? The long list of to-dos for the day? How you feel you failed yesterday? That one person or situation that left you feeling hurt or misunderstood? Or perhaps you’ve lost someone very dear, and you woke up longing for their embrace.

This world will always fall short of the deep desires in our hearts—to be seen, loved, understood, and fulfilled. “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming allegiance to His name.” Hebrews 13:14–15 (NLT). Many other translations echo this truth: we do not have a lasting city here, but we look ahead to the one that is to come (ASV, NRSV, NKJV).

Because nothing here lasts, it can be difficult to imagine something without an end. And yet, as Christians, that is exactly where our hope lies—an eternal home with our Father when life on this earth is over. Until then, He has given us many promises and has clearly told us how He sees us.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

*For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)

God knows you. He sees you. He loves you. And nothing can separate you from His love. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
